Whad’ya Know! Mother of All Quizzes 9-29-2018
September 20, 2018Time for a Vacation? Whad’ya Know!
July 2, 2018Is this a cry for a vacation or what? For medication, you say? Intervention?
Hi, I’m Michael Feldman (r) host of All Things Whad’ya Know, and I want to thank you for making the Spring Season of Whad’ya Know ’18 a resounding success–Lyle Anderson (lured down from his ivory Bell Tower) and I talked with a man from Venus, a woman who picked the Final Four using math modeling, learned about the Food Explorer who brought us avocados and, unfortunately, kale, found out how to Hack Your Mind and become a billionaire and where to spot a Harpy Eagle with the wingspan of a B-52, not to mention a mint 370 cu in Trans Am like the one in Smokey & The Bandit just sitting in a parking ramp in Highland Park, AND how Lyle fared on the Trump Cognition Test–and much not much more!
Obviously, given this frantic pace, one needs a break–Lyle, to his bell tower with the beautiful Esmeralda, me & the fambly to San Jose CA to see the pair o’ docs Feldman et all, then back to scrape and paint the asbestos shingles of A House of A Guy’s Own–that’s not gonna happen–OK, to sit around and scratch with Bella, more likely.
The Good News is the Whad’ya Know Podcast will continue to post over the summer with some things new, some things blue, somethings borrowed and some things however that goes–so look for us on the Whad’ya Know Podcast page and and on iTunes, Stitcher, CastBox (for you android types) and SoundCloud.com—
Then, before you know it, or September 8 (whichever comes first), Lyle (minus Esmeralda) and I, your humble servant Michael, will be back pushing the envelope from the inside and out with our Facebook Live! podcasts you can see (!) on www.facebook.com/whadyaknow.net/ .
Thanks, All Ya’all!! Talk to you soon, if not sooner,
Michael
June is Bustin’ Out All Over on Whad’ya Know Podcast!
May 31, 2018June is Bustin’ Out All Over on Whad’ya Know Podcast!
June 9–National Geographic’s Daniel Stone spins the amazing yarn of “The Food Explorer,” David Fairchild, who, in the 1880’s, brought Americans kale from Croatia, lemons from Corsica, Avocados from Chile, nectarines from Afghanistan and Mangoes from Vietnam, giving Americans something to eat beside mutton, beans and taters–and changing the course of history!
June 16–“Our Towns,” a 100,000 mile odyssey across American to re-discover small town American life in this complicated age, undertaken by James and Deborah Fallows who, traveling over 5 yrs together in a single prop plane, are not only still married, but have recorded some amazing and reassuring stories of American life.
And, on June 23, Manuel Pastor’s “State of Resistance,” the story of California’s rise, fall and resurgence, makes a case for the California experience as a model for America’s future as a compassionate, inclusive and a progressive force in the world.

January 15, 2018Whad’ya Know at a House of a Guy’s Own for all your Leftovers!
November 17, 2017The Leftovers. What to do with them?
No, I don’t mean the turkey legs & gizzards, pumpkin pie slivers or the stuffing with unidentified foreign objects–I mean the family in from Up North, the Illinois flatlanders, or Hank, Jean and the kids from Keokuk.
You say they’re still here–and it’s Saturday–Whad’ya Do?
Why, drop them off and leave them for a couple of hours at Whad’ya Know at A House of A Guy’s Own, 1215 Drake St. in Madison, Saturday, November 25th at 10 am to Noon–they’ll have a chance to meet the Feldman leftovers, some from Sterling some from Dixon, Land of Lincoln, headlined by the amazing Gramski Norma Wolens, who at 92 has circled the globe 1,016 times on her stationary bike, and, of course, the Feldman girls, Ellie and Nora who promise to recreate one of their famous battles over who took my thing that clamps your eyelashes!
But wait, there’s more–our special guest is Marc Kornblatt, director, producer, editor, and cinematographer of the Michael Feldman epic, “Whad’ya Do Now?” which has been called Dr. Caligari meets Beach Blanket Bingo! He’s not one of these Hollywood producers, so no worries!
All this and kosher donuts, non-denominational coffee and a chance to play the Whad’ya Know Quiz to win fabulous prizes from the huge backlog of remaindered Feldman books, games, and merch.
If this doesn’t send them packing for the Hinterlands nothing will, and they’ll be sleeping in the kids room forever!
If you can’t make them do it, just put all the screens in the house on the Whad’ya Know Podcast page on Saturday morning at 10–that will at least keep them occupied for a couple of precious hours!
Whad’ya Know at A House of A Guys Own–it’s better than making Santa’s sleigh out of turkey bones!
Born in Cream City: John Sieger (music) Michael Feldman (words)
October 6, 2017John Sieger wasn’t actually born in Milwaukee, aka Cream City, but has now lived there (a few blocks from the Feldman duplex on 58th & Center) long enough to qualify as native. I, on the other hand, was, ask St. Joseph’s Hospital, so I have the right to say anything I want about Milwaukee in song or invective, whether Uptown (our neck of the woods, all alleys and car lots) Downtown, Pole Town (trust me, the preferred title) or the Industrial Valley. Cream, btw, as in cream-colored bricks, sourced from clay along the banks of the Menomonee, which went into everything from breweries to lighthouses, although they collected dirt (as Mom might have said) so this little tune could easily have gone “Born in Ash City, where I was collected.” And who wants to rise to the top of an ash heap?
From the folk-period of the 40 year Sieger-Feldman collab, or as we call it, SiegFeld Follies.
Johnny will be singin’ away at Whad’ya Know from A House of A Guy’s Own, Saturday, Oct 7, 10 am (the slot we still own).
Come on down to 1215 Drake St, Madison, or boot on up to facebook.com/whadyaknow.net/ & call-in for fabulous prizes.
Don’t get skimmed–rise to the top!
Whad’ya Know from A House of a Guy’s Own This Saturday at 10 am
September 11, 2017He’s back!
Michael Feldman returns to Saturday mornings at 10 with Whad’ya Know, this one, streamed to Facebook, comes with a big twist: “This one happens in a House of a Guy’s Own, my sanctum sanitarium all these many years, even before man caves.” For the first time ever the public will be invited into the very private world of HOGO. “Before this, ” Feldman says, “anybody knocked on the door (I somehow ripped out the bell while remodeling) I crouched behind the stacks of Whad’ya Know memorabilia.”
The newest Whad’ya Know will be streamed live to the Whad’ya Know Podcast page over a short season of 8 “narrowcasts.” Why so few? “You have to hunker down on Badger football Saturdays in this neighborhood.” Two shows will air each month beginning with the first, September 16, through the Holiday Office Party, a venerable Whad’ya Know tradition, on December 16. “Bring a dish to pass” Feldman asks, “but I don’t know if I can shoehorn the Steve Meisner Polka band in here, though.”
Whad’ya Know can be viewed on the Whad’ya Know Podcast page Saturdays at 10AM to noon, on the irregular dates found on the show’s website, WhadyaKnow.net where you can also discover the formerly secret address of a House of a Guy’s Own, should you dare to venture into Michael Feldman’s mental household on those days.
Podcasts of the Whad’ya Know Live! are available soon after on iTunes.

From a House of a Guy’s Own it’s Call Me Maybe Not
August 9, 2017It’s not a Ted Kaczynski hide-away but neither is it a Tarzan & Jane flat in the trees– it’s a House of a Guy’s Own, with a guy and all his old college crap, including the shin-banging coffee table, but not including the moving Hamms sign with the bear in a canoe. Damn.
It is also a house to the lightly-vaunted Facebook Livecast Call Me Maybe Not.
CMMN. Easy way to remember it, and the every Tues & Thurs at noon CDT start time on https://www.facebook.com/whadyaknow.net/ .
Michael Feldman begs for your calls at (608) 256-3029–that alone is worth seeing.
Plus you can play the still extant Whad’ya Know Quiz–pretty much what there would be had the Lord said, “Let there be Quiz!”
Call Me Maybe Not can be found in the Whad’ya Know Podcast section of your @iTunes store (although free)
